The digitisation of Information and the consequent development of electronic information services has a radical effect on libraries. Learning new Information technology handling skills, integrating new services into the existing systems are some the challenges for the librarians. Many valuable resources are available on Internet. Such as fast, convenient electronic mail to vendors, clients, and colleagues; discussion groups on a wide range of topics, online databases, software archives, library catalogues, companies and organisations, directories etc. Access to these information sources is restricted to some specific tools. Majority of these are accessible through more than one navigational tools like gopher and web. We can access these information sources through e-mail also. Since there is no single metasource that lists all sources, for specific area of interest, one has to build up one's own source list by scanning different resource guides and keep it updated by keeping track of new sources. A similar effort is being made to build a database which links to Internet based Information sources on oceanography.
