INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY IN OCEANOGRAPHY (ITO-98) GOA, INDIA 12-16 OCTOBER 1998

Environmental Information System (ENVIS) Centre at the Centre of Advanced Study in Marine Biology has been collecting, collating and disseminating information on estuaries, mangroves, coral reefs and lagoons in particular and the coastal wetlands in general since 1992. The Centre has documented voluminous textual/numeric databases and published various documents for its core subjects. It extends referral, abstracting, query/answer and documentation services with the aid of advanced information technologies. This paper discusses the activities of the Centre and also provide a statistical overview about its services from 1992-1998.
