The commercial software packages from Aanderaa Instruments, Noway (Recording Current Meters - RCMS) and RD Instruments, USA (Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler - ALDCP) meet the user requirements only partially while analysing the current data. The software from Aanderaa provides data listing and time series plots of current components (U,V) at specified depths. Similarly, the TRANSECT software from RD Instruments tabulates the current data for each ensemble and displays the changes in U,V with depth in the form of vertical profiles or sections in colour codes. Besides them, more information can be gained from the presentation of U,V data in some other forms. In order to meet such comprehensive requirements of the user, a new user friendly software package - Parisodha - is developed to cater for various analyses of currents from both RCMS and ADCP. The software is written in Windows platform using graphical interfaces.

The processed data files of currents, Viz. decoded data of RCMS and ensemble data of ADCP, are the input files for Pafisodha. This software extracts the relevant details from these files and presents the results in the following graphical forms: -

1. Vertical profiles of U,V
2. Vector plots of currents, Viz. sick plots at specified depths
3. Temporal/ spatial plots of U,V at selected depths
4. Vertical sections of U,V in colour code
5. Vertical profiles of current vectors
6. Topography maps, showing spatial distribution of U,V at specified depths

All the above presentations for currents can be done either in temporal (except 6 of above) or in spatial regimes at fixed sampling interval. The user can choose any one of the above utilities. By default they are all sequentially displayed in the above order. The Parisodhe facilities any one of the above presentations up to a maximum of 6 to 10 in a single frame to cater for various analyses of currents from both RCMS and ADCP.
