In marine investigations, such as oceanographic or marine geophysical, a large amount of data will be logged from various sensors simultaneously or independently by interfacing them to computers with local area network more effectively. Therefore it is essential to monitor the quality of data, performance of different sensors in real time. Apart from these, monitoring of navigation, preliminary qualitative analysis of the data like trend, correlation among different parameters in real time helps to great extent in the selection of area/modification of the existing survey plan, if required. In general, the output of many sensors are in analog or digital form and it is quite difficult to assess any qualitative analysis due to lengthy hard copies or digital output. Also some times, the sampling rate of data from different sensors may not be the same, in such case, the data to be interpolated/labeled accordingly with reference to a time/position or a particular parameter. There are some commercially available integrated software packages, address some of the above requirements, but they are quite expensive and they can not be modified to suite user's needs if required, since the source code of the same will not be revealed- Taking the above factors into account a software "OnLine Multi-channel Data Acquisition, Qualitative Analysis and Planning in Marine Surveys " is developed. This software provides instant graphical display of various parameters over specified length of time, which gives an idea about their correlation and approximate trend and also provides an option to display the variation of parameters along the survey tracks continuously and instant information on spatial / lateral variation, trend of the same and navigation
