NAMI: A PROCESSING PACKAGE FOR MOS OCEAN COLOR SATELLITE IMAGERY

IRS-P3 MOS was the first ocean color launched after a decade of and above after the proof-of-concept ocean color sensor CZCS, under joint collaborative program between India and Germany. We present here the processing package, NAMI developed for processing MOS-B scenes. This is a complete package that allows to extract the Level-1 data and process to derive the constituents such as Chlorophyll, suspended matter, dissolved organic matter and pigment concentrations and optical properties of water such as backscattering coefficients, remote sensing reflectance, diffuse attenuation coefficient, Secchi depth and absorption coefficients and also atmospheric turbidity. The package is menu driven and provides an easy to use graphical interface. The parameters can be derived using the refined band-ratio algorithms and the PCA model. Apart from these, NAMI also allows to save the processed files in standard graphic formats, display in wide range of user selectable color tables, display histogram, rebuild corner geographical coordinates, provide on-line help and other utilities. Since the software is developed using array oriented programming language, computations are found to be fast and can be easily ported to any platform providing such an programming environment.
