S. LAKSHMINARAYANA, VISHWAS CHAVAN AND ARVIND GHOSH

One of the primary concerns of the webmaster is to ease a potential customer to find the website. A customer in general finds many a site through the information obtained by the search engines and hence, the webmaster need to have an idea, how these search engines rank the sites. If these search engines follow a set of rules for ranking, the job of the webmaster is minimised to optimize the information to get more number of hits to the site. To measure and quantify to a digital number from these set of rules will be difficult for a webmaster; but the knowledge of search engine parsing techniques; tautology and automata methods will enhance the scheme of ranking a web page. How ever efficient these search engines, missing the ability to ask few questions by a search engine, judgement with past experience and non-intelligent scenario has a considerable role in ranking.

In this paper we discussed the impact of blatant stuffing, subjective methods and algorithms for ranking high in the top search engines.
