Inside Information Compact Disc-Read only Memory (IICD-ROM) - and its role in oceanography.

M.K.Bhandi and Akthar Mubeen

In this paper the authors have discussed in detail about the Inside Information Compact Disc-Read only Memory (IICD-ROM) - and its role in oceanography. The database covers around 500 core journals in your area of oceanography & related areas i.e. around 4% in the field of oceanography/Marine Sciences etc. In their view IICD-ROM has grown tremendously since its inception i.e. since 1993. In the beginning it use to cover 386 core journals in the Geology, Marine Geology, Marine Sciences and oceanography. The database is more economical and cost effective because of its 1) Cost-benefit analysis 2) Coverage 3) features 4) Formats 5) Frequency 6) History 7) Search benefits and 8) Time lag. Due to financial crunch it is not possible to acquire all the needed core journals to many institutional libraries in India. This database is more effective and efficient in catering the maximum needs of the researchers and other end users at a minimal cost.
